Comprehensive ADL Assessments
Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessments ensure individuals can safely perform daily tasks independently or determine if they need assistance during recovery. We use ADL assessments to help reduce the impact of impairment caused by injury and illness, facilitate recovery, and restore function.
How we support our clients:
- Assessing the individual’s capacity for daily tasks like personal care, household chores, and maintenance.
- Educating them on safe and efficient ways to perform activities independently.
- Implementing a graded home activities program to enhance functional ability.
- Evaluating the necessity for equipment or aids to aid in task performance.
- Identifying requirements for permanent support or modifications.
Vocational Assessments
Our vocational assessments evaluate an individual’s skills, qualifications, and interests to identify new employment or training paths. They’re particularly valuable when injury or redundancy prevents the individual from resuming their former job.
Our assessment includes:
- Offering personalised recommendations for achieving vocational goals.
- Identifying viable vocational paths aligned with current job market opportunities.
- Reviewing the individual’s employment background.
Functional Capacity Assessments – Physical, Psychological and NDIS
Functional Assessments evaluate an individual’s capacity to perform physical and/or psychological tasks and offer a baseline measurement of ability.
We also provide comprehensive assessments promptly to our NDIS clients so they can receive the right level of funding and support to achieve their goals.
How we support our clients:
- Our assessors will spend time getting to know the individual and how they go about their daily life over a 24-hour period throughout a normal week. We aim to understand their strengths and areas where assistance may be needed.
- All areas of the individual’s daily life and their regular activities will be reviewed. These activities can include household chores, cooking, cleaning, personal care, transportation, shopping and socialising.
- Our qualified Psychologists will evaluate how psychological impairments affect work performance, offering insights for earning capacity, rehabilitation planning, and necessary accommodations.
- Open and honest communication is key to identifying the most appropriate supports.
- If the individual has a family member or support person they rely on, that person can also be present for the assessment.
FIM Assessments
The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) assessment is used to assess and monitor an individual’s functional independence. It involves grading their functional status according to the assistance they need.
Key components of the assessment include:
- Evaluating independence in self-care tasks such as transfers, locomotion, communication, and social cognition.
- Utilising an 18-item, seven-level, ordinal scale designed to detect changes throughout the duration of an extensive rehabilitation program.
- Assessing functional status by determining the level of assistance needed, ranging from total independence to total assistance.
Medico Legal Assessments
Our services are trusted by the medico-legal industry to provide timely, evidence-based, independent reports.
How we support our clients:
- Our assessments focus on the capacity of clients injured in motor vehicle accidents to resume work and the necessity for workplace adjustments or retraining.
- We offer an all-encompassing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Home & Living Skills Report.
- Tailored assessments are provided for individuals injured at work, highlighting impacts on job performance and potential for long-term occupational changes.
- We conduct thorough assessments for Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims, evaluating the impact of severe injuries and chronic illnesses on employability.
- We assist clients affected by respiratory and dust-related diseases, such as silicosis from tasks like cutting engineered kitchen countertops, by analysing effects on lung function and work viability, particularly in industries like construction or manufacturing.
OT Driving Assessments
Our Occupational Therapists (OTs) are specially trained to assist drivers with various injuries and health conditions, drawing on their extensive expertise to help individuals achieve or maintain their driving independence.
The OT driving assessment consists of two parts:
- Clinical assessment: Conducted at home, this screening evaluates visual, physical, and cognitive abilities to identify any challenges.
- Practical driving assessment: This on-road test assesses driving ability in a local area using a dual-controlled vehicle. After the assessment, the OT discusses results and next steps, such as adapting to new vehicle modifications if needed.
Ergonomic Assessments
Our ergonomic assessments educate workers on correct ergonomic principles and ensure their work environments are optimised for safety and productivity. We conduct thorough assessments and provide training to create a safe, healthy, and productive workplace.
What are the benefits:
- Boost health and wellbeing, including supporting positive mental health and creating a stress-free environment.
- Promote safety in the workplace by eliminating or removing safety risks and hazards.
- Enhance productivity and performance by supporting employees to perform at their optimum in a safe environment.
